172 Process Intensification Opportunities

Wednesday, April 3, 2019: 10:15 AM - 11:45 AM
Eglinton Winton (Hilton New Orleans Riverside)

Description:
Process Intensification (PI) refers to the transformation of a chemical process to make it significantly more efficient in terms of reduced energy consumption, fewer unit operations, smaller volume or footprint for a given production rate, capital costs, etcetera. As chemical engineering continues to evolve to meet future energy, emissions, and footprint demands, identifying and implementing new ideas in process intensification will be critical. Cross-discipline and cross-organization (industry, academia, and national labs) collaboration will be paramount l to success of these PI initiatives in the chemical and energy sectors. This session will discuss PI opportunities, such as those that are the focus on the new RAPID institute. Examples of implementations as well as ideas in the PI realm are welcomed and encouraged.
