Description:
a. LOPA is a semi-quantitative risk tool that is commonly used throughout industry. BowTie and other barrier analysis methodologies are gaining traction, and range from purely qualitative to semi-quantitative in nature. The BowTie method is noted for advantages in clearly depicting progression from causes or threats, to the top event (major hazard scenario of concern), to the consequences that may result – and including preventative barriers in the chain of events, and mitigative barriers that lessen the significance and impacts. Examples of real studies, applications, results, and solutions reached are desired.
