Dow’s Advanced Analytics team provides actionable insights to key business and corporate leaders using a wide range of computational methods. We are continuously striving to integrate any sources of information that can make our models more timely and accurate to improve decision making. Most attempts at understanding and predicting customer demand have either been non-analytical surveys of customer needs or have used time series methods of forecasting aggregate demand over customer segments.  At Dow we have developed a predictive analysis of customer demand which brings the world of analytics to the understanding of individual customers.  A crucial aspect of this modeling is the understanding of the high volume and velocity of order dynamics, such as changes to existing order prices, quantities, and order delivery dates.  The value of this work extends beyond better forecasting to allow prescriptive analytics for prioritizing marketing activity and earlier detection of problems in the supply chain before they become evident.
