Because of the shale gas revolution in the USA, the ethane is one of main gas for transportation by ship. The owners and operators recognise ethane as a key cargo for liquefied gas carriers.

This paper presents the market trend of ethane carrier and the development of ethane carrier using membrane type cargo containment system.
