68 Improving Facility Siting Management
68 Improving Facility Siting Management
Tuesday, April 1, 2014: 10:15 AM
Grand Ballroom A (Hilton New Orleans Riverside)
Description:
Facility siting has been a difficult issue for companies and facilities to address. It is all too easy to either under-design, leaving personnel under-protected, or over-design and tie up resources that could be used to address other hazards. This session invites original papers on approaches to equipment spacing and layout that reduces explosion hazards, the siting of permanent and temporary occupied structures, and new assessment methodologies. Of particular interest are approaches to addressing some of the more difficult issues including setting facility siting acceptance criteria, practical approaches to applying assessment methodologies, reducing high levels of congestion, and assessing unique or particularly difficult siting issues such as siting tents, break facilities and fabrication shelters, siting during turnarounds, and other unique situations.
