Control of trace contaminants is a common problem in most processes to one degree or another. Contamination issues affect not only product quality but often can affect functionality as well as health and safety. System design, assembly and construction, component and equipment selection, sealing methods, cleaning, operating parameters, control strategies and materials of construction can all affect contribution or reduction of trace contaminants to the distillation process. Strategies and procedures will be presented for trace contaminant control in distillation systems.
