As crude oil supplies continue to become harder to process, fuel oil demand decreases, and demand for high-quality transportation fuel increases, the role of heavy-oil upgrading technologies will continue to expand.  In this capacity, slurry hydrocracking offers a versatile solution to meet these needs and upgrade heavy bottom-of-the-barrel oils to transportation fuels and products more amenable to further processing.  This talk will introduce slurry hydrocracking, review its process principles, and discuss recent developments in slurry hydrocracking as embodied in UOP's Uniflex TM Technology.
