MINIMUM EFFECT REMIXING IN DISTILLATION SECUENCES

Josué Santos-Méndez

Abstract

In this paper, we observe five conventional distillation sequences for the separation of quaternary mixtures of hydrocarbons to feed compositions with high or low content of intermediate components. For new configurations distillation sequences, only requires the addition of a recycle stream of fluid or vapor between the conventional distillation columns. Each recycle stream removes either a condenser or reboiler. The introduction of thermal bonds can reduce power consumption up to 40% in contrast to conventional distillation sequences widely used in industry. This efficiency in energy use is achieved because the recycle streams introduced in conventional distillation sequences, reduce remixed that is associated with high energy consumption.
