Societal Risk Criteria

Wednesday, April 4, 2012: 8:00 AM
360 (George R. Brown Convention Center)

Description:
Understanding what societal risk is tolerated by the general public is constantly changing. Major process safety incidents, globalization, development of emerging economy nations, public awareness, and regulatory attention have brought about rapid changes to societal risk tolerance. New criteria is constantly being developed and old criteria is being revised for implementation across multinational and multicultural areas; many with newly implemented or revised regulatory criteria. This session seeks papers that discuss the development, implementation, revisions, regulation, and challenges of quantitative societal risk criteria by companies, or regulatory agencies in a historic, present, or future perspective. At the request of the presenter, submitted material will be excluded from publication and webcast.
