Abstract:

Upgrading Bed Support Systems, Utilizing Vee-Wire Technology

By: Benjamin Schmitt, PE

Date: October 18, 2010

Hydrocarbon industry processes utilize media (sieve or catalyst) to catalyze a process or adsorb impurities and other contaminates.  Support structures are an integral part of the process used to prevent the media from passing down-stream creating problems with mechanical devises or impact end product specifications.  Media retention structures vary from mesh over grating or perforated plate to Vee-Wire screen.  A technical review of the advantages for utilizing Vee-Wire technology will be presented, sighting case studies and supporting data.  Topics of discussion will include process improvements, mechanical advantages, service life and capital recovery of Vee-Wire support structures.
