Kuwait Oil Company (KOC)comprises a number of oil & gas Gathering Centres, Booster Stations, Pipelines Network,Tank Farms and Export Facilities. KOC has committed to a life cycle Integrity Management implementation plan comprising 11 Elements. Implementation Plan specifies a number of strategically defined KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), scoring criteria, applicability to each operating asset and a 3 year Rolling Plan for continuous improvement. Quarterly Performance is measured & monitored for a number of mandatory & optional KPIs and subjected to self-assessment & external audits. The Element "Hazards & Risk Management" includes a mandatory KPI defined as "Percentage of projects reviewed in the Concept / FEED stage to ensure principles of Inherently Safer Design are incorporated. For those projects & facilities where such opportunities have not been fully utilised or projects are post-FEED stage, a Risk Management plan is prepared. Approaches to Inherently Safer Design are grouped into following strategies, minimize, substitute, moderate & simplify.
