Process Safety During Economic Downturns and Recoveries

Tuesday, March 23, 2010
Room 103 A/B (Convention Center)
John Herber, CCPS, Stillwater, MN

Although no one can predict when, the global economy will improve sometime. Companies have made a number of changes to their operations to survive these difficult times. When the economic recovery comes, the viability of EHS systems and especially process safety support systems must be ready for the return to full operation. This presentation will outline critical elements of economic downturns and recoveries. It will also present a method to assess the present condition of the key components of process safety – equipment, procedures, restarting idled equipment, retraining operators and new employees.
