#13 - Particle Size Measurement - I (TWA17)
Measurement of particle size distributions (PSDs) is the cornerstone of powder technology. Accurate and representative PSD measurements are important for both applications and the quantitative modelling of properties. This is a generally well accepted philosophy but the limitations of time for data collection and the physical models used to transform the measured quantity into a reliable PSD is not always easy. In particular the assumption of spherical shape is often problematic. Papers on all types of methods are welcome, particularly studies on well characterised systems that allow us to evaluate the robustness of the measurement method for particular applications. Also size ranges can induce limitations for different method. Studies on size ranges from nanometres to millimetres are all welcome. Another interesting aspect to PSD measurement is the breadth of materials (polymer, pharmaceutical, ceramic, metallic, food, etc.) where their granular characteristics are often of great practical importance. Papers from all disciplines are equally encouraged to help cross-fertilise ideas from different fields of application.
