Pilot Plants (12b)

#101 - Pilot Plant Success Stories (12B00)
In the race to commercialize new technology, or to improve existing technology, it is widely accepted that pilot plants play a key role in the overall process development scheme. Furthermore, a successful pilot plant project can pave the way for commercial success, or, at the other extreme, help expose a possible commercial failure. You are invited to share your Pilot Plant Success Stories along the following suggested (but not exclusive) themes: • Pilot plants that paved the way for commercial success, or helped avoid a potential commercial failure • Unusually challenging pilot plant projects that were delivered on time and on budget • Pilot plants that were used to develop and prove novel technologies • Pilot plants that helped identify or solve a major health and safety issue • Pilot plants in parallel with commercial units to test process changes • Successful scale-up or scale-down in pilot plants • A unique team approach to executing a pilot plant project • Successful funding models for pilot plants • How major difficulties were overcome in pilot plants
