#236 - Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Multiphase Particulate Flows (TWC10)
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is now being used increasingly to study the motion of particles within particle arrays. Recent developments in magnetic resonance, in particular in the context of ultra-fast measurement, mean that we can now obtain new data of relevance both to those interested in the fundamental physics of granular motion as well as those with interest in areas of application such as particle segregation phenomena in rotating kilns and granular dynamics in fluidised beds. The session will provide an overview of the principles, capabilities and limitations of magnetic resonance methods in this application and give case studies across a range of science and engineering.
