The production of syngas using SMR can be modified by applying hysteresis heating of catalytically active Ni-Co nano-particles.

Using methanol production as an example, the attractiveness of this approach will be discussed in this paper.

Methanol may also be prepared using a new "Wacker" oxidation system currently under development.

The design and tentative economics of this novel methanol process will be presented.

Mono-ethylene glycol is an imported chemical and new technology is under development in Europe and in Asia based on the conversion of syngas from bio-mass.

Details of the proposed MEG technology will be reviewed in this paper.
