Description:
This session deals with experimental and theoretical studies of electrokinetics and interfacial science in non-aqueous systems.
The term non-aqueous is intended broadly and may include ionic liquids, organic solvents, etc. Specific topics will include thermodynamics of interfaces; intermolecular and interparticle interactions; surface forces; contact angle phenomena and wetting; adsorption and desorption; surface modification; self- and directed- assembly; emulsions, micelles, and foams; and applications.
This session also deals with electrokinetic phenomena such as electrophoresis, electroosmosis, dielectrophoresis, electrothermal flows, induced charge electrokinetics, and electrohydrodynamic, are at play during these processes leading to direct or indirect manipulation of these colloidal scale objects. Fundamental and applied studies pertaining to the assembly, transport, or deformation of particles, droplets and/or bubbles using electrokinetics or related physical phenomena are discussed.
