Particle Technology Forum (03) (vFairs Auditorium)
Description:
This session will honor the career-long achievements of Professor Christine Hrenya, on the occasion of her upcoming retirement. Professor Hrenya’s research has addressed key questions in particle-laden flows – clustering instabilities, particle cohesion, multi-scale modeling, heat transfer, and polydispersity - using a combination of theory, simulation, and experiments. Her research has led to more than 130 invited talks and 110 publications, including work featured in Nature and the New Scientist. Recent recognitions include the 2014 AIChE Lectureship Award in Fluidization, the 2014 AIChE PTF Service Award, and the 2013 University of Colorado Excellence in Teaching Award. Professor Hrenya served as the Chair of the 2016 AIChE Annual Meeting, and has previously served as Chair of the 2006 Gordon Conference on Granular Flow (Oxford University). She currently serves as an Associate Editor for the AIChE Journal and as an editor for Granular Matter. In recognition of this first female PTF member to retire from academe, this session will also celebrate the diversity of the PTF members, be it gender, race and/or sexual orientation.
