The Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) technique is typically used to measure adsorption/desorption processes and kinetics. In this talk, we will present the modification of an SPR in which a conductive substrate serves as the binding surface as well as a working electrode. The latter is expected to allow for measurements of interfacial phenomena is the presence of a tunable electric field or surface charge. Experiments will be presented which compare the binding kinetics of various model molecules to charged surfaces and mechanisms will be proposed so as to interpret the SPR data.
