This talk will highlight the potential for molten salts to address many of the persistent key challenges in electrochemical CO2 conversion. The main differences in the reaction environment compared to aqueous and non-aqueous electrochemical CO2 reduction will be discussed. Our efforts into realizing a working, high-temperature reaction cell in our group will be presented. Finally, our perspectives on the outstanding challenges to be solved in molten salt electrochemistry for CO2 conversion will be presented.
