Versawrap: The Bench-to-Bedside Journey of a University Technology

This presentation is an overview of the bench-to-bedside commercialization and launch of a university technology from the perspective of an inventor of the technology and cofounder of the company. Each step of the commercialization process of a hydrogel-based technology will be reviewed. The presentation provides a timeline with funding amounts and entities included. The presentation pauses to focus on negotiating a patent license agreement, the importance of regulatory strategy, and the two valleys of death both prior to FDA clearance and during manufacturing transfer. The presentation closes with a description of FDA-cleared products and their clinical use to date.
