A self-assembly of nanoparticles has attracted increasing attention as a tool for constructing unique physicochemical properties of materials. A self-assembly would be a direct consequence of energetics and dynamics involved in nanoparticles; both are often strongly correlated. More specially, the self-assembly results from an interplay between short- and long-range forces. Owing to the size, nanoparticle systems bring additional physicochemical nature, associated with molecular details, that is typically not appreciable for larger micro-sized particles. We will briefly review such aspects involved in the self-assembly of nanoparticles by using recent and on-going studies of self-assemblies of nanoparticles.
