Continuous wet granulation (high shear granulation) process is widely used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. This work aims to investigate the product properties and production efficiency of the continuous high shear granulation with experimental studies and simulation using gPROMS. In the continuous high shear granulation process, powder and liquid binder contact in a short resident time, where particles experience nucleation, growth and breakage. This work is also the first time to examine the effects of varying process parameters in a Schugi mixer (continuous high shear granulator). At the meantime, gPROMS is used to simulate the processing efficiency (yield) and the product properties (PSD, porosity, etc.) with the different formulation and process parameters in the granulation process.
