Indo German Petrochemicals Ltd Experience of Earlier Catalyst Replacement with Next Generation Catalyst for Production of Phthalic Anhydride

M/s. Indo German Petrochemicals Limited (IGPL) is one of the largest Phthalic Anhydride (PA) manufacturers in India at a single location. M/s. IGPL has replaced the earlier version of catalyst (O4-66 Plus) with new generation catalyst (O4-88) in PA Plant-III, for better results. Higher yield, higher loading and long term stable operation were few of the expectations before installing 04-88, compared to O4-66 plus. Based detailed study conducted for nearly 300 days of Operation, this paper articulates anticipated benefits after replacement, actual results achieved so far and conclusions.
