Badges, points and leaderboards are everywhere these days. Ranging from loyalty points for hotels and airlines to measuring the amount of exercise we do in a day, gamification of our everyday lives is here to stay. Despite this, many are not aware of what gamification really is or its purpose. Come to this workshop and learn about what makes up gamification, how it can be designed for use within educational settings, what the research says about it and most importantly how you can effectively demonstrate it is making a difference in your teaching practices. This workshop has it all including a twist of putting you in the role of the lead character.
