478561 Analysis of the Impact of the Environmental Noise in the Academic University Communities: Study of Case

The noise as the third environmental pollutant and recent indicator of the quality of life in the cities is the cause
of adverse effects in the atmosphere, affecting the health and well-being of the people, which in the long term
you can generate a progressive degradation of the health of those living in the areas most affected by noise
pollution. In the university communities its effect is particularly relevant because it affects non-clinical manner
causing deconcentration, stress and low productivity, which affects the welfare of those who are daily in the
university campuses. This situation has prompted this research whose goal is to analyze the impact of
environmental noise in the university academic communities, taking as a case study of the Faculty of Mines of
National University- Medellin campus. The methodology is applied and descriptive field of cross-cutting nature,
by means of a methodological triangulation that incorporates review of secondary sources of information, the
application of a quantitative methodological design. And the analysis of the noisy data reported by the
Laboratory of air quality (CALAIRE) on your workstation the faculty of mines of National University. Among the
results, it notes that between 92% and 96% of the students, independent of their level of hearing sensitivity,
expressed that did not take any action to mitigate the noise. Finally, among the non-clinical disorders more
common product of the noise in the students is the stress, anxiety and decrease in the concentration.
