The objective of present investigation is to enhance the performance of parabolic trough collector system. To improve its optical efficiency a dust collector /dirt accumulator has been modelled. This system is being used as parabolic trough based system for power plant application. The experiments were performed to analyze the optical efficiency and optical degradation rate at the roof top of Centre for Energy and Resources Development, Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi (25.3176°N,82.9739°E),India. A parametric studies has also been done to estimate the effect of wind flow/air flow, pitch angle, shadow of wall, wind direction ,ambient temperature, solar radiation and collector area for high temperature, high concentration ratio application.
