In this presentation, an energy-intensive separation of light gases is selected as a case study, to compare the advantages and weakness of membrane-based separation with conventional technology. The study will determine the target membrane property (e.g. permeance, selectivity) for a variety of process configurations, and provide guidelines for membrane material development.
