Description:
Design for sustainability is a new process development approach for addressing new challenges to chemical manufacturing from finite availability and accelerated depletion of ecological goods and services that sustain societies. Increasing sustainability can also be approached by other means, including education of those who design, construct and operate facilities as well as communities impacted by these chemical manufacturing facilities. When the facilities of interest are manufacturing processes, then introducing sustainability (environment, society, and economics) into the engineering curricula and professional practice helps to satisfy the need. The session will explore these issues through a series of invited speakers.
