Silver catalysts have long been utilized for selective oxidation of alcohol to aldehydes, and for selective epoxidation of ethylene to ethylene oxide.  Literature reports have suggested that there also exists a direct route from ethanol to ethylene oxide.  We will report experimental studies aimed at testing this proposal, as well as studies of catalysts in which silver was combined with metal oxide oxidation functions.
