A model of muscle action has been used to compute the steady state response of mechanical and chemical variables in muscle action. the merits of a modelof this action, however, depends on both itssteady state and transient resonses. This model depends on a posted high strain and low strain state for the actomyosin *ADP complex (AMADP). Combining these two strain states with a simple averaging rule and mass action kinetic models for the biochemical cycleallows for computation of both steady state and trasient responses.The overall theory and the steady state responses of this model were published (Long and Phoonsiri, 2006). The transient responses are considered here.Compliance corrections have not yet been included in the model.The model simply links the nono-scale to the macro scale using the half sarcomere as the basic system for analysis.
A comparison of computed results is made with well-known mechanical tests widely published in the literature. In addition to mechanical tests, a number of species transients are also presented. These pose additonal possible results that could be compared against experiment once the experiments are done.
