This work presents three case studies of the use of Multivariate Latent Variable Methods (LVM)  in pharmaceutical development: i) a root-cause investigation into the compression behavior of powder blend for oral dosage form manufacture, and further implications for commercial scale-up;  ii) the study of the feasibility to transfer a roller compaction process from one roller compaction unit to another of a different brand and design; and iii) the use of LVM to develop a solvent replacement system based on solvatochromic properties of solvents and the further coupling with optimization technology for a D-Optimal selection of solvents for experimental screening.
