This work will discuss the efficacy of an ionic liquid-methanol co-solvent system to extract lipids, fermentable sugars, and protein from bio-oil-bearing biomass.  Application of this system for the recycle of fermentable sugars to grow bio-oil bearing yeast biomass and the recovery of phorbol esters from oil-seed biomass will also be presented.  Finally, key issues for value as a commercial process will be discussed.
