We report a simple precipitation method for the preparation of multi-enzyme-inorganic hybrid microspheres with a controlled spatial distribution of enzymes. By this localization, the immobilized multi-enzyme system displays obviously enhanced overall activity compared to the corresponding free enzymes and randomly distributed multi-enzyme incorporated microspheres. As a demonstration, the spatially controlled horseradish peroxidase-glucose oxidase incorporated microspheres allow for sensitive detection of glucose in solution.
