In this presentation we will report recent research results on applying Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES) to extract lignin from woody biomass in high yields and high purity. The treatments were conducted between 90°C and 180°C. The lignin extraction yield up to 78% was obtained with purity about 90% based on Klason lignin content. Strategies to optimize lignin extraction and DES recovery will be discussed in this presentation.
