Towards Implantable Miniature Glucose-O2 Biofuel Cells

Miniature glucose/O₂ biofuel cells are of particular interest because they may power implanted medical devices. However, numerous challenges remain to overcome before envisioning such applications

 In this talk, I will report our last progress directed to the search of improved biocatalyst for the O₂ reduction as well as the search for adequate electrode materials allowing fast electron transfer and diffusion of substrate. I will also discuss our recent achievement towards implantation in mices and toxicity issues, which are generally raise with the use of Osmium complexes.
