Global warming is become a current issue that world seek to find a solution to it through mitigation of the greenhouse gases. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is one of the well-known greenhouse gases, which mainly came from human activities because of industrialization. Different CO2 capture strategies have been suggested and the most attractive one is the combined carbon capture and wastewater treatment using microalgae. Microalgae can utilize CO2 to increase its biomass which can be converted to a valuable biofuel products by conversion methods whether its thermochemical, biochemical, or chemical reaction based technology. Thus, characterization of the microalgae biomass for its carbon content is a decisive criterion for the selection suitable of conversion method. TOC analyzer is used to measure total organic carbon for Chlorella vulgaris, Nannochloropsis oculta, microalgae species. The effect of CO2 concentration in the growth of microalgae and the amount of carbon produced is investigated. The increasing of the carbon content during microalgal biomass growth is well determined.
