2014 Annual Meeting

This session will feature invited speakers who will cover fundamental concepts of electrochemistry, review commonly-used and advanced electroanalytical techniques, and describe emerging electrochemical applications. These talks will serve as an introduction to the electrochemical engineering principles for the beginner but will also cover advanced topics and techniques for more experienced practitioners. Special emphasis will be placed on providing an overview of modern electrochemical methods, both experimental and computational, employed in research and the translation of these methods to wide variety of applications ranging from energy storage and conversion to electrochemistry in biological systems. Select concepts and methods that are key to the analysis and scaling of electrochemical systems will also be discussed. Ares of interest include limiting currents, micro-electrodes, current distribution, impedance spectroscopy, and controlled potential/current methods. These techniques will be applied to diverse topics such as industrial electrochemical processes, electrochemical storage and conversion, and corrosion.
