396383 Passivation of Silicon Using Aluminum Oxide: A Novel Spray Pyrolysis Method

The objective behind this research is to utilize spray pyrolysis as a cheaper, safer and easier method of manufacturing silicon solar cells. The first stage of research involves testing the method on soda lime glass for desired film quality and thickness. The second stage is aimed towards investigating the films effect on silicon. Thus far, aluminum oxide films have been deposited onto glass substrates. It has been found that, however, the film quality is poor and the thickness is too large. After refining experimental parameters, it is expected that the method will produce consistent quality results so that deposition can be conducted on silicon.
