389297 Time Delay of Abnormal Potential Change in Situ Polymerization of Polyaniline on Graphene Oxide Nanosheet

Graphite oxide was prepared from natural flaked graphite according to a modified Hummers method. The resulting oxide was successfully exfoliated into Graphene oxide sheet by ultrasonication and then cut into the smaller. In situ polymerization of polyaniline after the oxidant, (NH4)2S2O8(APS), was added into the solution and stirred, the potential change of the mixture was extremely slow compared to removing nano Graphene oxide. So the time delay was abnormal. The resulting GO/Polyaniline composite was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Atomic force microscopy (AFM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectra, Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) and fluorescence spectra. According to the phenomenon, we proposed an explanation in the work. The procedure consisted of two steps of polymerization. In the first polymerization step, aniline absorbed on the graphene surface was polymerized and graphene oxide was the carrier of electron transfer. So that the potential of the solution was almost stable. In the second, in the solution polymerization was started. At the same time, the potential begun to change.
