Advances in hardware and software have fundamentally impacted every aspect of chemical engineering, but the academic curriculum has been slow to adapt.  This presentation will feature case studies that demonstrate how open-source hardware and software can allow instructors to easily and inexpensively introduce students to the powerful tools of the 21st-century engineer.
