370889 Synthesis of Ag2O Nano-Particles in Spherical Polyelectrolyte Brushes

Ag2O nano-particles were synthesized by chemical precipitation using spherical polyelectrolyte brushes (SPB) as nano-reactors. SPB was consisting of polystyrene core on which poly(acrylic acid) were attached. SPB had been used not only as a template but also provided great extent of stability to Ag2O nano-particles. Average diameter of Ag2O nano particles were around 10 nm which were confirmed by TEM images. This stable dispersion of Ag2O-SPB composite is envisioned to use in application of photo-catalysis of waste water because Ag2O is visible light photo-catalyst with narrow band gap of 1.3eV.
