The Innovative Plastics SBU of SABIC has successfully commercialized multiple polycarbonate co-polymer products over the past decade.  As with any scaleup and commercialization activity, there can be formidable challenges in successfully translating new products/processes to the manufacturing scale.  The framework of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) incorporates many best practices which mitigate challenges including:
  • Effectiveness of cross-functional team interactions including communications
  • Scaleup risk management
  • Project management and control
  • Translation to the manufacturing plant

In this presentation the use of selected DFSS tools will be reviewed with examples of how they contribute to successful commercialization.
