Nanomaterials for Thermal-to-Electric Conversion II: Thermoelectrics, Thermophotovoltaics and Thermopower

Wednesday, October 19, 2011: 12:30 PM
102 F (Minneapolis Convention Center)

Description:
More than 80% of current world energy needs are met through fossil fuels and more than 60% of this energy is released to the environment as "waste heat". Recent efforts to convert either solar-thermal or waste heat energy into electricity will be presented here, along with present challenges and opportunities. Invited speakers include: Jeff Snyder, Caltech; Paul Braun, Univ. of Illinois- Urbana Champaign; Michael Strano, MIT; David Norris, ETH Zurich.
