Nanostructured Biomimetic and Biohybrid Materials and Devices

Wednesday, October 19, 2011: 3:15 PM
212 B (Minneapolis Convention Center)

Description:
Papers within this session will focus on topics such as biological based materials, biomolecule containing hybrid structures, and artificial materials that mimic physiochemical properties and interactions of biological molecules. The session will highlight research involving rational design of self-assembling protein systems, designed peptides to form responsive systems and recognition materials, and tailored network structures mimicking biological structure and design. Of particular interest are the uses of nanostructured and nanoscale materials in the development of novel therapeutic, diagnostic, or tissue engineering devices. Bionanotechnology Graduate students: By applying to this session you may be eligible for the 22b Bionanotechnology Graduate Student Award Session (22B15) established to honor students whose research achievements in bionanotechnology demonstrates a high level of excellence.
