The processing of used nuclear fuel and radioactive waste for improved waste management options requires the involvement of a number of technical disciplines.  Research, development, scale-up and full-scale implementation of unit operations require significant involvement of chemical engineering expertise.  This talk will discuss the importance of the chemical engineering discipline in support of these activities and the need for increased involvement of, and support for, chemical engineering faculty and students.
