Preparing Students for Careers In Which Sustainability Will Grow In Importance

There is a growing interest in sustainability among students because of the growing importance of renewable energy, sustainable ecosystems, life cycle analysis, and biobased products.  Recent experience with a Research Experiences for Undergraduates program on sustainable energy, a sustainability seminar program, new courses for a Biobased Products and Bioenergy Certificate Program, and other sustainability efforts will be described.  Distance education processes enable universities to work cooperatively to offer more new courses.  Recent progress of the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance will be presented.
