HIV is a scourge on the planet, particularly in poor countries. A vaccine is urgently needed to address this challenge. I will describe work that brings together methods from statistical physics with biological experiments and human clinical data that aims to identify targets for vaccine-induced immune pressure to which HIV may be most vulnerable.
