Open Innovation generally refers to property rights issues associated with orgainzations such as nine sigma. In a broader sense, it refers to the issue of "credit" of which cash awards are one type. The issue of "control" and the financial and other rewards have to do with the relationship between buyer and seller. Transactions must have a degree of confidence in the integrity of the parties and establishing that confidence is a key requirement.
