In the context of learning reflection has been common practice in social science courses and its implementation in engineering education is relatively recent.  During the past two years written reflections have been included in the mass and energy balance course, either as a group in-class activity or as part of a homework assignment (individual or in groups).  Some of the reflections have been open asking students to comment on their learning experience as related to the course and previous courses’ material; other reflections have been guided with specific questions.  Student feedback on the reflection activities will be provided.
